FOOTLAUNCH

FREE FOOD at the next meeting March 10th at the Plume!

It’s also the AGM so volunteers for the committee please form an orderly queue at the bar on the night.

Parachute Repack – This was well attended and went well. Interesting advice on repacking from the resident expert on hand, which basically seemed to be throw away the manual and keep it simple. I repacked my PDA chute as per his advice and I’m happy it will still work, possibly opening a bit easier but whether you do it his way or not is your own choice.

Hopefully the weather will oblige for a PG ground-handling clinic in conjunction with Robin at AIRTOPIA soon.

Great flying at North Hill and Selworthy Beacon today. Nick, Derek, Alan, Chris, and John all had good flying (HG and PG).
Nick crossed the Porlock Weir Gap, and made it to Foreland Point and back to North Hill (Came back frozen).

Wed 18th Feb
Hay Bluff, NE 10-15
Flew down the ridge to Black Hill, made 1000' ATO; thought I was going to die in the rotor/turbulence behind the Cat's Back; then carried on all the way to Pandy.Does this count as xc? If so,it's my first! BrianG

Wed 18th Feb
Pontlottyn, NE 15
Started at Bleanavon but way too windy (25 mph, gusting 30) so stayed and watched a helicopter that kept hovering over the top just behind take-off: Not sure why, best theory is something to do with the wind farm that is planned for the whole of the ridge :-( Gave-up and headed for Pontlottyn which I have heard can have a lower wind strength. It did! Flew from 12 until nearly 5 in near perfect conditions. Little bits of lift to a max of 1200' ATO, bits of sink and then magic lift (?) for Dave J-H over the town. One of my best days flying, made even better as it's still Feb. Where were all the stiffies though...?
